EMINEM SAYS THERE WILL BE NO 'STAN 2' Eminem, who has been in the studio working on his new album, Relapse, recently emailed Billboard.com to clear up a few things about the forthcoming album especially a report that said he and Swizz Beatz worked on a sequel to his hit, "Stan." The rapper wrote, "I haven't worked with Swizz on this album. There isn't a 'Stan 2,' and there won't be. ... Stan drove his car off a bridge and I'm not writing a song as Stan's ghost. That would just be really corny." The rapper also shared that he and Dr. Dre have been busy. He said, "Me and Dre are back in the lab like the old days, man. Just him banging away on tracks and me getting that little spark that makes me write to it. I don't have chemistry like that with anyone else as far as producers go -- not even close. Dre will end up producing the majority of the tracks on Relapse. We are up to our old mischievous ways. ... Let's just leave it at that." The superstar also shared that a song, "Crack A Bottle," was leaked before he was finished with it. He explained, "It wasn't close to finished, and it even has me doing guide vocals for Dre as a suggestion of how he could lay his verses down. It's like someone catches you peeping in your window before you got the Spider Man costume all zipped up! Nobody is supposed to see that. We are gonna finish it up, though, and get it out there how it's supposed to be." No release date has been set for Relapse. Back to top |
MIKE JONES REMAKES BOBBY BROWN'S 'RONI' ![]() Houston-based rapper Mike Jones is enjoying the success of his new single, "Cuddy Buddy," but he's even more excited about the remake of Bobby Brown's "Roni" which he has in the stash. The rapper told MTV.com, "It was Tip's concept...'Cuddy Buddy' is off the Keith Sweat sample, A lot of people know Keith Sweat's 'How Deep Is Your Love,' so we just brought a new version in. You got the old, new and future. I was in Atlanta, me and Tip. He came to my room, and he already had the track 'Roni.' " At the time the song featured T.I. and Brown, but Jones decided he needed to get on it. The rapper explained, "I was like, 'That's dope,' I fell in love with it. I laid it. I think Tip was already turning in King. It was supposed to go on the King album. I was like, 'You not using that song?' He was like, 'Nah. Use it.' I took it and told everybody I was gonna take care of it like it was his. I wasn't just going to throw it out. I was gonna make sure it was mixed, mastered and everything right. Like 'Cuddy Buddy,' it came out smooth, grown-man." Jones added, "The difference between 'Roni' and 'Cuddy Buddy' is that 'Cuddy Buddy' it's an alert to let people that's not treating their relationship right: 'Watch out. She's gonna call on her cuddy buddy, and the cuddy buddy is gonna make her feel real good.' Tenderoni' --'She was there when nobody else was on me/ She never left me lonely.' " The rapper did share that although he didn't get to go into the studio with Brown, he has spoken to him. He said, "Wow. I couldn't believe just being on the phone with Bobby. I was on the phone with Bobby like I was on the phone with one of my partners. 'What's up, Bobby?' He was like, 'What's up, Miiiiiike Jonnnnes? What up, baby?' Wow. Coming from these streets in H-Town, nobody knowing me from the next block to being internationally known, it still throws me off." There's no release date for Jones' new album, The Voice. WHITE RAPPER SHOW CONTESTANT'S SENTENCING POSTPONED VH1's White Rapper Show contestant Persia, whose real name is Rachel Mucerino, was scheduled to be sentenced on felony gun possession charges on Friday, December 12th, in Ulster County, New York but her sentencing has been postponed. The reality show star told SOHH.com, "By the mercy of God and through all of your support, my court date has been postponed for reasons unknown to me. I want to thank everyone for everything. Your letters, prayers and your support." The rapper broke the news of her pending sentencing via her MySpace Page where she also explained that an abusive ex-boyfriend's actions lead her to purchase the weapon for her own safety. She was arrested during a routine traffic stop in December 2006. Persia urged her fans to continue to support her until the matter is resolved as she could receive three-and-a-half years when she is eventually sentenced. She said, "Please continue to contact the D.A.'s office as this matter has only been postponed for another date. I will keep you updated as things progress." According to the rapper, her attempts to get law enforcement authorities involved didn't work out because her ex-boyfriend is a valuable police informant. She also explained that the last straw was when her mother suffered a heart attack after her ex allegedly doused the back of the family home with gasoline. The ex-boyfriend also allegedly attempted to extort VH1 by revealing the winner of the White Rapper Show before the finale. Back to Top |
